Creating Australia's First Esports Team
The National Basketball League (NBL) is the professional basketball league of Australia. It is considered one of the elite programs globally and enjoys a working relationship with the NBA. NBL teams often play NBA teams in the pre-season, players move between the NBL and NBA over the course of their careers and the leagues even share some team owners.
The NBL decided it was interested in entering the world of Esports and looking for a path to join the NBA 2K League. Norden Strategies was initially hired to provide overall strategy, assist with franchise negotiations, and build a business model for the enterprise. Eventually, the project turned to an announcement strategy, hiring initial team personnel and the development of a major NBA2K Tournament in Melbourne. Ongoing work includes supporting team operations and exploring additional business opportunities for the NBL in North America.
